AdvisorMail employs multiple layers of protection to evaluate, detect and block spam emails and dangerous viruses.
We use a combination of the best technologies available to fight email spam and viruses, including:
Blacklisting
Scans the internet for email traffic sources that are sending unsolicited commercial email. Once a site is identified as a spam source, it is "blacklisted" and all emails sent from that source are blocked.
AdvisorMail maximizes the effectiveness of this technique by combining the best commercial and proprietary "blacklist" technology to block spam messages. This unique approach, combined with our proprietary multiple-layered screening methodology, enables us to deliver the highest levels of spam protection.
Whitelisting
Enables users to unblock email traffic mistakenly identified as spam.
Occasionally, emails from a legitimate source are identified as spam and blocked. When that happens, AdvisorMail's "whitelisting" function allows for the quick removal of that site from the "blacklist" and puts it on a permanent "whitelist" so that future communications from the sender are not interrupted.
Profiling and Rules-Based Scoring
LiveOffice's spam protection solutions analyze inbound communications to identify the characteristics of new spam emails. These profiles are used to update the AdvisorMail spam solution. The system then creates models of known spam communications and generates filters to block them from reaching you.
Profiles from messages identified as spam are permanently incorporated into the AdvisorMail spam filter and used to identify and mark future communications as potential junk email. These profiles are further ranked by a proprietary scoring system, enabling AdvisorMail to identify and block emails that are clearly spam, while allowing legitimate messages to pass through.
Reverse DNS Lookup
Checks the internet address of the server sending emails to verify that they are a legitimate message source.
Spammers typically use multiple networks to send emails. With reverse DNS lookup, AdvisorMail notes the sender's address on inbound communications to identify those that are not legitimate and immediately block incoming spam.
Multi-Layer Virus Scanning
AdvisorMail maintains very close relationships with a number of anti-virus partners to quickly identify and block new virus releases. In addition, AdvisorMail employs sophisticated recognition technology that identifies and blocks specific types of virus-laden email attachments.
